Flag View Intermediate School Update: Plan to Resume School Monday

Dear Flag View Intermediate School Families,

We are writing to provide an update regarding the temporary closure of Flag View Intermediate School due to the boiler outage.

After further assessment, the boilers were determined to be beyond repair and will require full replacement. This work is scheduled for the weekend. Our intention and plan is for the new boilers to be operational by Monday, January 26, allowing school to resume as scheduled that day.

Families can expect another update by Sunday evening to confirm plans for Monday.
Thank you again for your continued support and understanding as we work to resolve this issue.

FLAG VIEW INTERMEDIATE SCHOOL – THURSDAY, JANUARY 22 SCHOOL CLOSURE NOTICE
Out of an abundance of caution, Flag View Intermediate School will be closed tomorrow, Thursday, January 22, 2026 due to boiler system outages and the anticipation that indoor temperatures will be below levels appropriate for safe and effective school operations.

The safety and well-being of our students and staff is our highest priority. Based on current conditions and temperature projections, the building is not expected to reach acceptable indoor temperatures for a full school day. District maintenance teams will continue working to address the heating system issues.

This closure only impacts Flag View Intermediate School. All other ECSD schools will operate on a regular schedule.

We will continue to share updates as more information becomes available. Thank you for your understanding and cooperation.

We are excited that 160 of our students from Elko, Spring Creek, and Jackpot High Schools had the chance to tour the Health Science departments at Great Basin College to see postsecondary healthcare training in action.

The Q&A, lab tours, and interactive demos showed them exactly what their next steps look like. Invest in a skill, invest in a career!

Dear ECSD Families,

This afternoon, there was an inadvertent pressing of a Centegix badge that triggered a brief lockdown at Spring Creek area schools and it may have caused lockdown notices at others in the District.

Please know there was no threat or emergency. Everyone is safe.

We apologize for the false alarm and any concern it may have caused. As always, the safety of our students and staff remains our top priority, and we appreciate your understanding.

Thank you for your continued support.

🏈 What a day for Owyhee Combined School!
The Las Vegas Raiders gave the Owyhee Braves—representing the Shoshone-Paiute Tribe—an unforgettable experience. The students met pro football players, toured the Intermountain Health Performance Center and even attended an NFL game!
As part of Nike’s N7 program, which supports Indigenous communities, the team also received a surprise gift: brand-new uniforms made possible by a special Nike grant.
To top it all off, they got to cheer on the Raiders at Monday night’s game against the Chargers!
