Regarding lockdown at West Wendover schools on the morning of October 4, 2023
It is very important to us to keep our parents and families as informed as possible regarding any incidents involving our campus and students. On the morning of Wednesday, October 4 West Wendover High School was placed on lockdown after a West Wendover High School student reported seeing what they thought was a firearm in possession of another student. School administration notified law enforcement immediately. Out of precaution, WWE and WWMS were also placed on lockdown. Law enforcement located the student and began their investigation. The reports were unfounded and the student was taken into custody for further questioning. All students are safe and the campus is secure. School will continue today. Please remind your students should they ever hear or see something concerning, to always say something to a parent, staff member or trusted adult. Providing a safe and secure learning environment is our top priority at ECSD, West Wendover High School.
Great things are happening at West Wendover Elementary School!
The school and ECSD are very grateful for the City of West Wendover who donated $35,000 towards the purchase of new playground equipment for our students to enjoy!

ECSD Career and Technical Education is seeking interest in offering a dual credit dental pipeline program for juniors and seniors beginning Fall 2024. Classes will be provided by Truckee Meadows Community College and supported by the Nevada Division of Public and Behavioral Health. Students will complete skill labs and complete clinical hours in a dental office.
Additionally, ECSD would like to learn if local dental offices are interested in learning more and supporting local students who wish to complete the program.
If interested, please help us by filling out the interest form: https://forms.gle/6HAnVntX9RaevURt9

The fundraising event was held to help the school raise funds for playground improvements. Thank you to parents and community members for supporting the project! 🏃🏽♀️🏃🏃♂️💨

UPDATE: the power has been restored.
ECSD is aware that some of our schools currently have no power. Classes are still in session and instruction has not been interrupted. The estimated time of restoration according to the utility company is still to be determined. Classes will be dismissed at their normal time. Parents will be notified if the status of the situation changes. If you have additional questions or concerns, please contact the school directly.
Last Tuesday, the Board of Trustees received a presentation from Southside Teacher Classroom Innovations. Teachers Audrey Karr and Tarah Leeland, with the help from several students, presented on the school's strategies in developing Nevada's Portrait of a Learner. Some of these classroom activities include STEM projects and the implementation of emotions journaling in the classroom.
