On Tuesday, February 24, Elko County School District and Carlin Combined Schools held a dedication and unveiling ceremony for the newly updated Carlin Combined School playground, a project made possible through the leadership and generosity of Nevada Gold Mines (NGM) and numerous community partners.
Recognizing the need to modernize aging equipment with student safety at the forefront, NGM stepped forward to lead the effort. The project was primarily supported through in-kind donations from NGM employees and strengthened by NGM’s outreach to community partners who enthusiastically contributed materials, expertise, and labor.
These partners include TNT CNC, REMA, and Western Nevada Supply.
Together, these contributions transformed the playground into a safe, engaging space where students can take meaningful breaks, stay active, and return to the classroom ready to learn.
“We are incredibly grateful to Nevada Gold Mines and the many local partners who helped bring this project to life,” said Elko County School District Superintendent CJ Anderson. “From sourcing playground components at cost to donating signage, coating materials, structural supplies, and even storage space during construction, this effort reflects the kind of generosity and collaboration that make our communities so strong.”
“This playground represents far more than new equipment,” Anderson added. “For Carlin Combined students this project is a powerful example of what happens when a community invests in its schools. It’s a lasting reminder of the shared commitment we have to creating safe, enriching spaces where our students can play, grow, and thrive.”
