Roberto Cervantes, Amanda Larrinaga, and Laura Eudey are Elko County School District’s November STARS — or Staff and Teachers Achieving Results with Students — award recipients.

These staff members have shown exceptional dedication to student success, kindness in their daily work, and a strong commitment to supporting their school communities.

November 2025 STARS Recipients

Roberto Cervantes

Cervantes, a custodian at Jackpot Combined School, was nominated anonymously.

His nomination described him as “the heart and soul of our school” and praised his unmatched dedication.

“Roberto’s work ethic is unmatched; it often seems like he never rests,” the nomination read. “Our building shines because of his constant attention to detail, pride in his work, and commitment to excellence.”

His nominator noted that his positive influence goes far beyond custodial work.

“He attends nearly every sporting event, cheering the kids on,” they wrote. “The students light up when they see him. Roberto embodies every quality the STARS Program represents.”

Amanda Larrinaga

Larrinaga, a paraprofessional at Liberty Peak Elementary, was nominated anonymously.

Her nominator wrote that “she is the heart of our school,” adding that students are drawn to her because of how safe and supported she makes them feel.

“Students light up when they see Amanda,” the nomination said. “It’s amazing how much of an impact she makes just by being consistent, kind, and patient.”

Her coworkers rely on her support.

“Amanda doesn’t look for recognition — she just does the work because she cares,” they wrote. “She is such a team player that she should be captain of the team.”

Laura Eudey

Eudey, an English teacher at Spring Creek High School, was nominated by student Justine McDermott.

McDermott praised her as a teacher who pushes students to think critically and prepares them for success in advanced coursework.

“She puts 100 percent effort into each class every day,” McDermott wrote. “I have never felt more prepared to take an AP exam.”

Eudey is known for high expectations paired with strong support.

“She demands a lot from her students, but never more than she knows they are capable of,” the nomination continued. “She’s one of the best.”

This recognition is made possible through the generosity of LeeAnne’s Floral Designs, Maverick Gaming, Sugar y Spice, The Star, Fratelli Pizza, and the Rotary Club of Elko Desert Sunrise.

Staff, students, and community members are encouraged to nominate any school district employee who demonstrates exceptional commitment and performance in serving students. The nomination form is available on the STARS webpage on the Elko County School District website.
