On April 8, our very own 1st grade teacher, Mrs. Smith received the STAR Award! She was nominated because she has demonstrated dedication to students, a passion for teaching and a commitment to creating positive and supportive learning environments.

Mrs. Smith was nominated by parent Amanda Mosteller.

Ms. Mosteller shared how Mrs. Smith helped transform her child’s experience at school. “Her teacher went far beyond what would normally be expected to help my daughter feel comfortable, supported and excited about learning,” Mosteller wrote.

Because of Smith’s care and dedication, the student’s outlook changed significantly. “Less than a year later, she wakes up excited and eager to go to class every single day,” the nomination read.

Mrs. Smith is also known for building lasting relationships. “Children from several years ago clearly remember the positive impact she had on them and continue to seek her out,” Mosteller wrote.

Congratulations, Mrs. Smith! WWES is lucky to have you!
