Boys Team Standings
State Track
In the boys team standings, Wells was fourth with a total of 63 points.
Independence rounded out the top 10 with 27 points, and Carlin finished 12th with 18 points.
Boys Results
No Elko County boys won state championships, but several tallied runner-up finishes in their respective events.
Wells junior Isaac Gale ranked second in the 1600 meters and the 3200 meters.
He notched a personal record of 10:37.59 in the two-mile and ran the mile in 4:56.53.
For the Leopards, junior teammate Mason Noorda also posted a pair of second place runs.
In the 400 meters, Noorda crossed second in 51.81 seconds — fellow junior Aron Hansen finishing seventh in 56.34 seconds.
Noorda ran two laps in 2:03.93 for second place in the 800 meters.
Independence junior M. Rodriguez was the runner-up in the 100 meters with a time of 11.94 seconds, and Hansen crossed in 12.42 seconds for sixth place.
Rodriguez placed third in the 200 meters with a time of 23.73 seconds, and Hansen finished in 24.16 seconds for fifth.
In the shot put, Carlin senior Jaken Burgener closed his career with a personal best throw of 40-feet-2-inches for second place.
For the Railroaders, sophomore Hayden Grondin also set a personal record of 40-feet-11-1/4-inches and finished second in the triple jump.
Wells junior Marcos Cobian posted a PR of 6-feet for third place in the high jump, and he was eighth in the triple jump with a distance of 35-feet-7-1/2-inches.
In the discus, Wells senior Carson Ballard launched a throw 109-feet-4-inches for fourth place.
Carlin junior Atticus Greer closed out the eight-person field with a time of 20.58 seconds in the 110-meter hurdles.
Relays
In the 4x100 relay, Independence — Rodriguez, senior S. Cherry, sophomore A. Marquez and senior P. Lay — ran second with a time of 46.47 seconds.
Wells (Gale, senior Cameron Livingstone, Hansen and Noorda) placed third in the 4x800 with a time of 8:47.19, and Carlin — sophomore Wyatt Kamensky, freshman Jhon Vicente, senior Tony Robles and Greer — crossed in 10:15.91 and capped the eight-team field.
The Colts — Rodriguez, Cherry, Marquez and Lay — finished fourth in the 4x400 with a time of 3:50.74, and the Leopards (junior Henry Morris, sophomore Jayden Kiser, Gale and Noorda) followed in 3:52.50 for fifth.
