Kindergarten Enrollment

The 2023 Nevada Legislature changed the kindergarten age guidelines for all public schools. For the 2023–2024 school year, children must be five years of age on or before August 1. However, if a child enrolled in a pre-kindergarten program during the 2022–2023 school year and is five years of age on or before the first day of the school year (August 28), they can be admitted to kindergarten for the 2023–2024 school year. Parents must complete the Affidavit of Enrollment form at the child’s school

First Grade Enrollment Changes

  • A child who is six years of age on or before August 1 who attended kindergarten must enroll in first grade.

  • A child who is six years of age on or before August 1 who did not attend kindergarten must enroll in kindergarten.

Online Enrollment & Immunizations

Online registration opens Monday, April 17 for kindergarten, pre-K, and any new student to the Elko County School District who will begin school in the fall of 2023. Parents and guardians can find immunization requirements and complete online enrollment on our School Enrollment and Immunizations page.

Documents Needed for Enrollement

  • The student’s original birth certificate

  • The student’s current immunization record from a health care provider

  • Proof of residence, such as a utility bill showing parent name and address

Please upload these documents when completing enrollment online. For assistance, parents/guardians may provide these documents to their child(ren)'s zoned school. If attending an in-person session, please bring these documents with you. We encourage parents to reach out directly to their child’s school to inquire about enrollment age qualifications and needed documentation.
