The 2023 Nevada Legislature changed the kindergarten age guidelines for all public schools. For the 2023–2024 school year, children must be five years of age on or before August 1. However, if a child enrolled in a pre-kindergarten program during the 2022–2023 school year and is five years of age on or before the first day of the school year (August 28), they can be admitted to kindergarten for the 2023–2024 school year. Parents must complete the Affidavit of Enrollment form at the child’s school
First Grade Enrollment Changes
A child who is six years of age on or before August 1 who attended kindergarten must enroll in first grade.
A child who is six years of age on or before August 1 who did not attend kindergarten must enroll in kindergarten.
Online registration opens Monday, April 17 for kindergarten, pre-K, and any new student to the Elko County School District who will begin school in the fall of 2023. Please upload these documents when completing enrollment online. For assistance, parents/guardians may provide these documents to their child(ren)'s zoned school. If attending an in-person session, please bring these documents with you.
